Berkeley, California is one of those mythical locations in the history of kiting. Year after year the Best of the Best sport kite fliers challenge the raging wind there. It is as if the wind polishes and shines all those skilled enough to withstand its force. And for the last Saturday in July, 2002, I was lucky enough to sit at the edge of the flying field and bask in the joy of watching some of the current best fly.

Although known predominately for sport kite fighting, there was a nice backdrop of single line kites there as well.
