I am so lucky to be able to get off my prairie during the dead of winter and fly off to sunny (ok, it rained most of the time) California. Sushi for Christmas is a new tradition I hope to enjoy for years and years to come. Thanks Brian for your hospitality. The reports of rain in northern California over the holidays were not exaggerated. I was lucky to have Monday afternoon, the 26th, dry so we headed to Berkeley for some kite flying. It felt fantastic to feel the tug of a kiteline in my hand again. But then the rain settled in and Tuesday and Wednesday became shopping days getting ready for your journey south. I must give my chauffeur credit for having the patience of Job. Our shopping odyssey included most of the big electronic stores on the east side of the bay. And those store visits helped me find the laptop of my dreams for a price that I could afford. So I took some of the money that I've saved since quitting smoking and made the purchase. Add to that the fine earrings, designer scarves, and Godiva chocolates I received from Santa and it was a very fine Christmas indeed.

Merry Christmas Brian and Dan.

Maiden flight of Prairie Thunder.

The Golden Gate Bridge in the pre-rain afternoon.

Brian and friends waiting for a breeze. That is San Francisco in the background.

Six kites a flying.

A Christmas meal for the pine tree. Yes, that is a prairie bird in that tree.

Someone thinks I need one of these. I might consider it if I could have one as cute as Monkey.

Brian and Monkey in their favorite habitat.

Thanks guys for treating me so well during my visit.
