Summer Kite
Festival
Lincoln City,
Oregon June 25 & 26
Perfect
wind, comfortable temperatures, brilliant blue sky, good friends, great kites,
and fantastic kite fliers. Yep, all that and more was present during the Lincoln
City Summer Kite Festival. Saturday was the dream come true day with Sunday
being a little becalmed but a great time was had by everyone. It was great
seeing Sam Huston and Barry Poulter again. With so many fliers in attendance,
Brian and I stayed on the Sea Gypsy side of the river and put up as many kites
as we could. I even had two trains up at the same time...a rarity indeed. David
Willis made the weekend all the sweeter for me by showing up and flying for
awhile. Brian purchased a 90 foot spinsock off my beach making it such a perfect
memory. Saturday evening a group of us chartered a boat out of Newport to do
some whale watching. Alas, there were no whales but we had a grand time anyway.
Thanks Susan for organizing the boat ride for us. I played in Lincoln City for a
couple days after the festival exploring the beach north of Cascade Head,
leaving a little change at the casino, and recalling how happy my mother was
walking the beach. I do miss that lady. Thanks Lincoln City for a great time and
hope to see you next year. Click here for photos.
